Newcastle Hospital is an NHS service providing a single point of access for all maternity referrals in the Newcastle Upon Tyne Area. The aim is to make sure you have access to the right care from day one. Newcastle Hospital will triage your referral based on the information you provide and the hospital will contact you to start your antenatal care. In the meantime if you are worried about your pregnancy, please tell your GP straight away.

Click here to inform the NHS of your pregnancy. It's quick and easy and just takes a couple of minutes.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! If you live in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area, you can now self-refer yourself to Maternity services. To complete this referral, you will need to know your NHS number and the name of your registered GP practice. You can find this information by contacting your GP practice directly, on the NHS App or on the NHS finder website. If you are not registered at a GP practice currently, please select “unknown” on the list. If you are struggling to complete this form or are unable to refer yourself, please call 0191 282 0741, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. They will then be able to complete the referral to Maternity services on your behalf if required. You may be asked why you could not complete the online referral. Once a referral has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. If you have not received this email within 24 hours, please repeat the referral. Please note that we aim to contact you within 10 working days to arrange your booking appointment. If you have not heard anything within that time frame, call 0191 282 0741 who will be able to assist you. If you have any concerns or questions in the meantime, contact your GP.

You can also use this to refer a pregnancy on behalf of a woman.
